I threw my bed away
I am NOT giving medical advice. These are just my thoughts and personal experiences (can't believe I actually need to write this disclaimer)
For the past 2 weeks, I've been sleeping on the floor with a futon.
Call me weird, but I love it.
I've experimented with sleeping on the floor in the past, but I've never stuck to it... until I moved into my new apartment last week. The bed frame was broken when I moved in, so I literally didn't have any other choice.
The first few nights were pretty damn uncomfortable, but I got used to it by night 5.
I could list out all the benefits of sleeping on the floor (like having better posture or falling asleep faster), but that would be uninspired and boring, so I'll share my favourite part which is: putting away my bed each day.
Every morning when I wake up, I fold the blankets and pillows and put them into my wardrobe. I then roll up my mattress and stand it up in a corner.
Since the bed is away I end up freeing up about 35% of floor space in my room, which is amazing news if you live in London (the apartments here are tiny).
Plus, my urge to nap or dilly dally during the day is completely gone since I don't have anywhere to lie down.
It also gives my brain and body a signal that we're transitioning from rest to work. Just the mere sight of my bed confuses my brain enough to throw off my concentration sometimes, so putting it away is pretty helpful.
