my least favourite chore
Few things piss me off as much as having to do laundry.
It's a multi-step task that requires a cooldown between steps.
First you gotta put the dirty stuff in the laundry machine, which is the easiest part. Then you gotta wait. Then you gotta hang. Then you gotta wait AGAIN for it to dry, and it's an eyesore in your living room till then. Then you gotta fold. And then FINALLY you earn the right to put the clean, folded clothes away into your wardrobe. What a fucking nightmare.
I can do most other chores pretty quickly if I need to. I can wash the dishes, scrub the toilet, vacuum the floor, throw the garbage, and clean the windows all within an hour.
Washing my clothes and sheets takes a combined time of 12+ hours (including drying time), which is insane to me.
And God forbid I leave the load of laundry in the machine too long, because I get punished and have to re-run the cycle to get rid of the damp smell.
Saying all of that, I still wash and change my sheets every week without fail. It's just one of those adulting tasks that exists to test if you're a responsible adult or not. A necessary evil, if you will.
