practice does NOT make perfect

For the past 2 years, I've drank an eggnog every single day for breakfast.

I use 4 eggs when I cook it, so if you do the math, that's: 4 eggs x 365 days x 2 years = 2,920 eggs.

Which means I've cracked nearly 3,000 eggs in the past 2 years - which first of all is insane.

Second of all - you'd think that after cracking so many bloody eggs, that I'd be a egg-cracking professional by now.

But man, you couldn't be more wrong.

I mess up all the time, and it literally feels like I'm cracking an egg for the first time in my life when I cook. I either crack at least 1 egg haphazardly and little bits of eggshell fall into the bowl, or I crack an egg too hard on the counter and it spills everywhere. I've even dropped an egg on the floor once.

And I think the reason for my lacklustre egg-cracking skills is because I've never learnt how to properly crack an egg. And as a result, I crack eggs like an amateur, even though I've practiced over 3,000 times.

My point with this story: Just because someone's done something many many times, doesn't mean they're actually good at it.

This idea can be applied to many areas of life.
