self-care
I went to yoga this morning even though I went to bed super late. It was literally the last thing I wanted to do on a Sunday morning, but I showed up anyway.
And this made me think of self-care and what it actually means.
In my eyes, self-care is treating myself like a friend.
Imagine if I told a friend to meet me at yoga, and then I didn't show up. That would make me a pretty bad friend right? And what would happen if I kept cancelling last minute over and over again? That friend would probably lose trust in me to show up, and would stop wanting to hang out with me.
Well, the same thing goes for ourselves.
If we told ourselves to show up for something, and then cancel last minute, we're being bad friends to ourselves; our self-relationship gets tainted slightly. Do this enough times and we lose all trust and respect in ourselves - not a great place to be.
Self-care sometimes looks like doing things that you don't want to do, but are actually good for you.
