the daily dip

So I did that thing again where I just wasted 2 hours of my life scrolling brain dead YouTube shorts while lying on the couch. Ughhhhhh.

It's not like this is a new thing for me. Every day without fail, I have this energy dip from 2 till 5pm. It doesn't matter what I eat for lunch or how much sleep I had the night before - between 2 and 5 I inexplicably turn into a zombie.

It's been like this for as long as I can remember. But instead of coming to terms with this energy dip and working with it, I instead ignore it and force myself to do 'productive' things. And when I inevitably can't concentrate, I feel bad for not being like 'normal' people who can work from 9-5 with no issues.

I'm so damn sick of this. I hate the fact that I'm wasting time online when: 1. I don't find it fun, and 2. Makes me feel like shit every time I do. So for next week, things are going to be different. I'm going to stop forcing myself to be at my desk 'working' and instead use my time in a different way.

Here's a few rules I've set for myself:

  1. Leave the house by 2pm. I don't care what I do, but I need to be out of the house by then. If not, I'll end up on the couch, phone in hand, and brain dead.
  2. Move my body in some way. Since I'm unable to do any focused work during this time, the only thing left to do is move my body. I run in the morning, so this would be a great opportunity to do strength training or a sport.

Wish me luck.
