the daily dip
So I did that thing again where I just wasted 2 hours of my life scrolling brain dead YouTube shorts while lying on the couch. Ughhhhhh.
It's not like this is a new thing for me. Every day without fail, I have this energy dip from 2 till 5pm. It doesn't matter what I eat for lunch or how much sleep I had the night before - between 2 and 5 I inexplicably turn into a zombie.
It's been like this for as long as I can remember. But instead of coming to terms with this energy dip and working with it, I instead ignore it and force myself to do 'productive' things. And when I inevitably can't concentrate, I feel bad for not being like 'normal' people who can work from 9-5 with no issues.
I'm so damn sick of this. I hate the fact that I'm wasting time online when: 1. I don't find it fun, and 2. Makes me feel like shit every time I do. So for next week, things are going to be different. I'm going to stop forcing myself to be at my desk 'working' and instead use my time in a different way.
Here's a few rules I've set for myself:
- Leave the house by 2pm. I don't care what I do, but I need to be out of the house by then. If not, I'll end up on the couch, phone in hand, and brain dead.
- Move my body in some way. Since I'm unable to do any focused work during this time, the only thing left to do is move my body. I run in the morning, so this would be a great opportunity to do strength training or a sport.
Wish me luck.
