the first 2 hours

I've realised that how I spend the first 2 hours of my day sets the tone for the rest of the day.

If I nail those first 2 hours by doing something I deem productive, then I'll probably go to bed happy and content. But if I don't, then I'll spend the whole day in a feeling of regret.

For example: I had a yoga class this morning, but I didn't go because I overslept from being hungover from last night.

And even though it's many hours later, I'm still carrying the feeling of guilt and regret of not going.

If I compare that to a day where I go on a run within an hour of waking up, I feel great and my day usually goes over well. And I also don't experience a feeling of self-hatred throughout the day. Win-win.
